Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh respected shaykh In my country (India), there are recent trends of "shariah compliant" mutual funds coming into existence. Such as the following: http://www.tatamutualfund.com/our-funds/equity/diversified/tata-ethical-fund My question is, how can they classify these as "shariah compliant" when almost all companies today deal in riba in one form or the other even if it means a very little amount? But I am seeing this phrase used very often. Can you please explain this?

Tata Ethical Fund.. Is this fund Shari'a compliant? The SID(Scheme Information Document) mentions on page 16 that the Fund can invest upto 30% in prohibited activities. Is there any ruling in Ahadits/Shari'a about the percentage to invest in prohibited activities?
